The Neonatel Trust

PoshTosh proudly supports The Neonatel Trust. For each order you place at PoshTosh $2 is donated on your behalf to The Neonatel Trust. This is then donated in a lump sum on your behalf. This was initiated through your first hand experiences and my personal ones. A cause held close to many of our hearts.

The Neonatal Trust was originally established in Wellington in 1986 by two Wellington families with extremely premature babies.  They are a registered charity which operates across New Zealand. They rely independently on the generosity of others.

The Neonatel Trust provide support to families whose neonatal journey requires level 3 NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) support and care. These NICUs are located in Auckland, Waikato, Wellington, Canterbury and Otago. Outside of these regions the trust looks to provide support in a number of ways.

Parent Support Groups have been developed for level 2 Special Care Baby Units. These are now located in the provincial hospitals around the country. These Parent Support Groups are aimed at assisting local families by providing information and support.

The Neonatal Trust works to provide, and coordinate, support to families of neonatal (premature or sick full term) babies as they make their journeys through neonatal intensive care, the transition home, and onwards.

It is a clear goal of The Neonatel Trust to enhance the services across the country and provide consistent support for families and babies.

The Neonatel Trust does not receive any Government funding and are entirely reliant on the generousity of individuals, companies and organisations in the form of donations, value-in-kind donations, grants, sponsorship and fundraising events to supplement operating costs and fund their services and initiatives.

Through each of your orders at PoshTosh $2 will be donated on your behalf to The Neonatel Trust. Our combined order donations will go to benefit either:
  • neonatal families in need; and/or
  • the purchase of equipment or furnishings in Neonatal Intensive Care Units that directly benefit neonatal families; and/or
  • the professional development of neonatal nursing staff; and/or
  • medical research into neonatal care.

As you can imagine parents of very premature babies may need to travel to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).  This usually happens suddenly at such a delicate time, so there is little opportunity for them to prepare for their stay. Often parents who find themselves in this situation have no family or friends nearby, so it can be a lonely experience. The Neonatel Trust aims to aid an easier transition to provide support in these circumstances.

The parent support services provided by The Neonatal Trust allow parents some respite from financial and emotional stresses.  Wherever they can, they provide assistance by arranging personal support.

Thank you for your support in raising for a very special cause. Lauren @PoshTosh
